It’s got to do with this parasite, this protozoan called Toxoplasma. If you’re ever pregnant, if you’re ever around anyone who’s pregnant, you know you immediately get skittish about cat feces, cat bedding, cat everything, because it could carry Toxo. When I upgraded our efforts to combat factory farming a half-dozen years ago, a top priority was to end the cruel confinement of egg-laying hens in barren battery cages—a practice that’s harsh and unacceptable, and inconsistent with our values about the care of animals. Our then-new campaign director, Paul Shapiro, had spent many years prior to his arrival at The HSUS publicizing the horrors of battery cages, and our campaign would aim to step up the campaign and turn around the situation.

Just as Email and iPhones have become indispensable technological  ”killer apps”… perhaps GOOD WORKS will be the next Human “killer app”!
